Winter Skirts & Dresses
I haven't blogged in a while due to the busy holiday season!
I am obsessed with dresses, but during the winter it can be a struggle to wear dresses while staying weather appropriate. Tights can be very helpful if you have a good navy, red, charcoal or cream dress, however many summer dresses can be worn in the winter as well! I have floral upon floral dresses in my closet and recently realized that but pairing a dark full sweater over, it can easily be made into a winter dress. I love it! This can turn the dress into more of a skirt look, but it still works!
Also, I have this super sparkly sequin skirt that I am never able to wear because I don't have many formal occasions happening in my life. However, If I were to pair the skirt with a solid pullover knit it would dress it down enough to wear it for any day event!

Winter Knits
While at the mall today, I stumbled upon the BEAUTIFUL rack of knits. Instant love, can I have one of each?! Knits can keep you cozy and cute. Anyone can look good in a knit whether its a button up or hangs loose. Neutral knits are very in this season. The knit can be a chunky weave, or a tight knit... as long as it is a knit, it will do!

Almost Nude Face
I have really dry skin, especially during the winter. On days like today when my skin is SO dry that makeup would cake to the dry scales, I would like to go a day without makeup... However, I have not been blessed with beautiful skin so no makeup is a scary option. For years I have had this issue and have found a few tricks for my "no makeup" days.....
1. Blend Lotion with liquid foundation: This helps keep your skin moist while at the same time given a light coving to even the skin.... like a homed BB cream!
2. Mascara: Just one light layer on mascara can make a big difference while still appearing natural. This is a great "no makeup" trick for those of us with lightly colored lashes!
3. White eyeliner: Lining the inside of the upper lid can wakeup the eyes!
Those are my easy, quick, "no makeup" tricks!

Nail Art
Unpainted nails are gross. Just add a little pop to an outfit with a chosen color. It doesn't have to match and chances are you won't be painting your nails everyday being able to make them match. A few of my go-to colors are a deep plum, red, black, gray, cream, and light pink. Of course there are so many different shades of each of the above as well as so many shades in general, but don't let your nails be naked! Also, don't feel the need to get expensive polish... the cheap stuff can be just as good and sometimes even better, but don't forget a top fear coat to keep the color looking cleaner longer.
scarves and layers
Scarves are another one of my daily accessories. In the winter it is rarely that you will find me without at least one on. Guys should be rocking the scarves too. As I say at least one, yes it is ok to layer scarves just like it is great to layer your shirts, layer necklaces, bracelets, socks! Layers on layers can turn ordinary shirts and sweaters into a super trendy look! Very seldom do I actually wear a coat around campus, but LAYERS!!

Dress up your man
Does your man just not dress how fashionably? I mean c'mon... a athletic shirt is just not doing it. So here are a few easy tips that I use on the guys in my life that help dress him up without needing to buy anything (in most cases)!
Button ups: To dress down a button up shirt, roll the sleeves. EASY! And to roll them simply unbutton the sleeves at the bottom, roll up twice and push up to just below the elbow.
Add a belt: belts dress up everyday jeans so much. Try to avoid the big belt buckles, but an everyday belt can do a lot.
Slick up the from of the hair: This can be tricky to get the guys to do sometimes, but it can make him look more alert and like there was a little effort put into the day. You don't need gel, hairspray works just fine!
A nice watch: Gold, silver, black..metal! As for women watches are eye catching and a statement piece. Try to avoid leather bands, that is a trend of the past.
Shoes: A nice pair of dress shoes can be worn with jeans! Do it!
Scarf: For a day or night out, add a scarf, some women's scarves can be worn by men too. Try sticking with neutrals, maybe a red, blue or green.
Those are the tips for now! Stay tuned for more.

Arm Candy
Let your accessories do the talking with a bundle of bangles and, beads, and a watch! Layers of bracelets can make a huge difference in making a solid top stand out or just adding to an outfit as a whole. Never feel like you have to match accessories to the colors of an outfit, use colors that will compliment each other and multiple shades of one color... Take color chances! And a big watch can do a lot. Now a days watches are more of a trend than actually used for telling time, and thats fine. A big chunky watch can catch eyes more than just a few thing bracelet bands.
Clinique Chubby Sticks
I got my first chubby stick a little less than a year ago and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. The chubby stick for your lips is not like a lipstick but more of a colored balm. Rather than leaving a pasty look lips have a more natural, silky look and hydrate lips at the same time. They are not cheap, but in my opinion definitely worth every penny!

Sorel boots
These boots. Another one of my winter must haves!
My mom and dad recently bought these adorable Sorel boots for me. They are the definition of love. As if they are not cute enough in the picture, when I opened the box they are like 21x better in person. So cozy, so comfy, have great grip, they are just great in general!

Bleached Eyebrows = NO
OK... Do not take me wrong, Miley Cyrus is gorgeous, hot, stunning, all of those complimenting adjectives.... however the eyebrows just don't do it! Bleached eyebrows are very VOUGE, but none the less, it shouldn't be done outside of they high-class modeling world. We'll just let Miley be the queen of this one. DON'T DO IT!
clean up your dirty face!
Since it is nearly bed time I thought I would share my bedtime routine!
-If I take a night shower I wash my face in the shower with just any drug store facial cleanser and the how shower water. I then pat my face dry with the towel. If I am not too lazy I remove any left on makeup with a makeup removing tow let... like the raccoon eyes and go around my hairline for makeup hiding up in there... And that's it!
-However if I don't shower at night, I take a hot washcloth rung out and take that to my face. Not much to that!
I have yet to invest in a face washing "machine" and I thought that I wanted a Clarisonic, but recently came upon the Luna and Lune Mini by FOREO.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?!

ROCK THE RED
Red lips make a bold statement. Anyone can rock the red. It is very classy and chic. I do have a red Clinique ChubbyStick, not a lipstick. There is a BIG difference. With a more lip balm type it will take less to maintain. If you want to accomplish the red lips using lipstick I would recommend using a liner first, and not applying the lipstick directly to the lips, but with a brush. With brush application you can be more precise as well as it will look more even. I know I cannot wait to try out the red this winter!
Also, If you are unsure if red goes with what you are wearing, wear it. When in doubt rock the red lips!
A healthy snack/meal
If you haven't tried instant oatmeal with a splash of milk after it's been microwaved... You MUST. It makes for a great little meal, is healthy and more filling than many breakfast foods!

Outfit of the Day 11/21
This is me.. haha
I thought I would share MY outfit of the day!
Today was a super lazy I don't want to get out of bed and go to class day. I ended up having 20 minutes so this is what happened....
A flannel. You will see me in flannels A LOT. To dress up the flannel I added a light washed denim vest and peacock feather earrings and necklace to add a POP. For pants I'm feeling cozy in my leggings (leggings ARE pants) and for the feetzies i just through on a fair of UGGs.
Simple, cute, lasy, comfy.
Flannels save me from the cliche white girl north face look.

These are a few of my favorite things
With the snow season quickly arriving (oh lawd, save meh!) I have a few cozy yet super stylish winter fashion faves...
Thigh Highs: I currently CANNOT get enough of thigh highs. Being that I hate pants they are a good alternative but at the same time they are about 75x "cuter". They can be paired with a flannel or knit sweater and lace shorts for a day in, or worn over tights with a skater skirt and croppy for a night out. You can get thigh highs just about anywhere and for super cheap!
FAUX Fur Vest: Really, fur anything. Everywhere I go lately I am searching for fur... fur vest, fur scarf, fur hat, fur coat... FUR FUR FUR. The awesome thing about fur is that it can dramatically dress up an outfit and super warm for these snowfall days. I love the vest because it works with my flannel obsession. I could live in flannel day in and day out due to its comfort but this fur look with it catches eyes. No, fur isn't usually very cheap, but can be found at many retail store such as Macy's, JCP, Hollister... MANY places.

I'm new to this...
Sooo... Hey!!
I'm Kelsey.. hence "Kelsey's Obsession".
Basically I wish I were famous, perfect, and super rich. But I'm not. So I'll just keep dreaming. However, I am a design and fashion student with a love for little animals and bazar farm animals. Nature is dreamy and my paradise away from paradise. Photography is an obsession and with that being said I'm in love with modeling. As I said before, I am a fashion and design student. Though I grew up in a small town and continue to be stuck in the never changing trends of a small town I am that girl always dressed to the nines... the "fashionista" of all the community.
With that little tie-bit of information about myself, follow my blog for fashion, beauty and just everyday obsessions!
